This summer has taken a wide hot turn. It has become harder to take care of the skin. The products we have today are only making our skins hard, rough and unmanageable. Here are some home-made easy-to-do self-care diys for a healthy skin at home!
Clay and Honey Face Wash
1. 1 small jar ( a small bowl will also work)
2. 1 glass bowl for mixing
3. Enough honey to fill your jar ¾ of the way
4. Rhassoul, Kaolin, French Green, or Bentonite clay ( you can find these on medical shops, Malls, or cosmetic stores or online stores)
5. Lavender or Tea Tree essential oils
Mix 1-2 TB of clay with ¼ cup of honey. Stir well until completely mixed using a fork or whatever works best for you.
Once mixed, add your essential oils one drop at a time.
Find the strength that appeals to you. (I like adding 5 drops of tea tree and 2 drops of lavender). Mix well and pour into your jar of choice
How to use:
Scoop out a small amount with a spoon or small cosmetic spatula and set aside. Wet your face with warm water to help open the pores. Apply your clay and honey face wash in a circular motion all over your face and neck for at least 1 full minute. Once finished you can either rinse it off with warm water and pat dry or let it sit for 20 minutes as a nice mask.
The clay will help draw toxins from the skin and calm inflammation. Depending on which clay you use the benefit you’ll experience will be slightly different.
Coconut Oatmeal Scrub
1.1/2 cup Oatmeal
2. 1/2 cup Organic Coconut Oil
3. 1 tsp vanilla extract
4. 1 tsp honey
5. 1 tsp brown sugar
Ground oatmeal in a food processor and place finely ground oatmeal in a bowl.
Add brown sugar to oatmeal and mix.
Pour honey, vanilla, and coconut oil to the oatmeal and mix until well combined.
Store in an airtight container.
How to use:
This scrub is used like any other scrub. take out haft a centimeter of the scrub on the tips of your fingers. Apply them gently on your moist (already washed face from warm water). Rub and rub gently. try not to be too harsh or too hard on your skin, as it might leave rashes.
Homemade Lemon Soap
1. 1/2 cups Goats Milk Soap Base or Shea Butter Soap Base,
2. 4-6 drops Lemon Essential Oil
3. Dried Lemon zest of 3-4 lemons
4. shape molds
Cut soap into cubes and microwave in 30-second intervals (I like to use a large Pyrex measuring cup to melt the soap in). This recipe makes 3 bars of soap and I used about 15 cubes of goat’s milk soap base.
Melt soap for about a minute. Add another 15-30 seconds if it’s not completely melted.
Once soap cubes have liquefied add a few drops of the lemon essential oil and the lemon zest; stir well.
Pour into soap molds and allow to harden for at least one hour. Press molds to release extra soap.
For last the soaps longer omit the lemon zest and use yellow soap dye for color (if desired). The essential oil will provide enough lemon scent without the lemon zest.
1. 2 tablespoons beeswax pastilles
2. Add 2 tablespoons shea butter
3. 2 tablespoons coconut oil
4. 30+ drops peppermint essential oil
Melt beeswax, shea butter and coconut oil in a double boiler or small glass bowl over a small pot of boiling water, stirring constantly until melted.
Remove pan from heat but keep the hot water to keep the mixture melted.
Add essential oils to your preference. I just added peppermint to this recipe.
Once you’ve added the essential oils, use the pipette or a dropper to fill the lip balm tubes. This must be done quickly since the mixture will start to harden as soon as it is removed from the heat.
Let tubes sit at room temperature for several hours until cooled and completely hardened before capping them.
if you prefer a thicker and longer-lasting lip balm use an extra teaspoon or two of beeswax. If you want less thickness then use slightly less if you prefer a smoother and softer lip balm. You can re-melt and add more of each ingredient during the melting process until you get the exact texture you want.
