How To Make the Most Out of a Beach Day

Going to the beach means leaving the city chaos, daily stress, work obligations and personal frustrations at home, and giving in to complete and carefree enjoyment. You finally have a week, or even just a weekend off, and you want to make the very best of it.

There are tons of things you can do when on a beach trip, but trying to squeeze all of them in one day may present a challenge. We listed some of the most entertaining ways to spend a hot summer day on the beach, with friends, family, or all on your own!

You don’t have to schedule every possible activity you wish to do that day, but an overall rough draft of a plan can help you organize your day better and manage to squeeze in as many activities as possible. And especially if you’re traveling with a group of friends or family members and you naturally all want different things, writing these down will help you find a compromise and make everyone happy.

Sunbathe

Of course, you want to use the opportunity to tan while spending time on the beach, but be smart about it. Direct and long exposure to the sun can cause severe sunburn and skin damage, and that tanned summer look you’re craving is so not worth the risk. Make sure to wear at least SPF 30 sunscreen before going to the beach for a healthy and effective sunbathing session.

Give Snorkeling a Try

Snorkeling is often an underrated activity. However, its simplicity is what makes it so great – instead of investing so much money and time in preparing for other sorts of beach activities and sports, all you need for snorkeling is a good full face snorkel mask and some fins. Explore the tropical waters in a fun and new way!

Cliff Jumping

And if you’re a fan of extreme sports, but not too extreme, try cliff jumping and diving! This is one of the least complicated extreme sports and it requires no equipment, nor special clothing. All you need to do is let your body sail through the air and dive into the water below.

Beach Volleyball

Among other games that can easily be played on the beach like sand castle building, frisbee, bocce ball or even mini golf, beach volleyball might be the best option, especially for a friend group. What better way to lose some calories and sweat out before diving in the big blue water?

Read a Book

At some point during the day, you’ll want a little me-time. Bring a book that’s not too heavy, nor too light, but the right amount of relaxing “beach read”. Get underneath your parasol and dive into the alternative world while listening to the soothing sound of the waves.

Make a Beach Playlists

For full self-treatment, make a playlist on your phone or iPod before going to the beach, and make sure to bring a set of earphones. If you’re more of a party animal, bring portable speakers and have enough sound to get your friends and the rest of the beach crew on their legs to shake things up.

Enjoy the Sunset

If you’ve never had a chance to be on the beach or near any body of water when the sun is setting, you should make an appointment to do so at your earliest convenience. This indescribable work of art comes around the time you’re getting ready to leave the beach. Stay for a couple of minutes longer and enjoy the unique tranquility and beauty offered by the sunset.

Planning a beach trip may seem like a lot of work, but in reality, it is just about you and how you wish to fill in your day. There are plenty of options to use up your time wisely and spend an unforgettable day at the beach. Take a note of our suggestions above and prepare to indulge in the beauties of the sea, the sand and your company.
