In the 21st century, when we are heading towards a nation where we’ll soon forget about the indifference which prevailed on earth among men and women. That is why this day is celebrated by appreciating women in every field.
Earlier, women’s day was known as the International Working Women’s Day. It took a few years for the people to understand the potential of women and since then the International Women’s Day achieved its real meaning.
Women have excelled in social, political, and economic fields. And this day makes them feel special. Bringing the governments, women’s organisations, corporations, and charities close is what marks this day as a day of love, respect, and empowerment for females.
A woman is the companion of man, gifted with equal mental capacity. Working shoulder to shoulder with men, women have proved that every woman in the world is as powerful and ambitious as men. There have been many barriers against women in every region and in every way. But, women made an effort, and have overcome those obstacles over time.
History Of The International Women’s Day
The first women’s day was celebrated in 1911 which makes 2017 as the 112th International Women’s Day! International Women’s Day has been witnessed since in the early 1900s, which was a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialised world. The 1900s saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.
It started when a woman named Clara Zetkin- leader of the ‘women’s office’ for Social Democratic Party in Germany- gave the idea of an International Women’s Day. Agreed by more than 100 women across the globe, this day was marked officially as the Women’s Day.
Women’s education and health are still being worked on in many countries. International Women’s Day is celebrated to mark the creation of an environment for women where they can make decisions for their self-benefits as well as for the society. Also, to ensure equal rights to women, and to make them confident enough to claim their rights.
Until 1922, under the common law ‘doctrine of coercion’, a woman in the UK who committed a crime in the presence of her husband was presumed to have been coerced by him. And so, she wasn’t considered guilty.Did you know that women invented all those car heaters, dishwashers, circular saws, chocolate chip cookies, and square-bottomed paper bags?
From inventors to astronomers, from home-makers to politicians, there’s been hurdles in every field; and women have successfully crossed them. That is the core reason that International Women’s Day is beyond the words and encourages every woman towards their significance and saying also goes right!
You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate a woman; you educate a generation.
